YANGON, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- A private plastic factory fire, that occurred in Myanmar's Yangon, has caused a loss of 80 million kyats (over 53,000 U.S. dollars), the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Tuesday.
The one-hour fire at the weekend destroyed a steel structure building and 500 bags of plastic pellet at Shwelinban Industrial Zone in Hlaingtharya town.
At midnight Sunday, a driver of the factory switched on an electric pot to boil water but forgot to switch off.
Although all main switches were shut down after work but these switches were on in the next morning, overheating the electric pot and causing the fire to spread to nearby chemicals and plastic pellets, according to the Fire Service Department.
A total of 47 fire engines were mobilized to put out the blaze.
The police have opened a case against the driver. Enditem
