FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 12 militants including two foreign nationals have been killed as cleanup operations have been continuing in Arghanchkhaw district of the northern Badakhshan province, an army spokesman in the northern region, Abdul Hadi Jamal said Wednesday.
The cleanup operations were launched early Wednesday and so far 12 militants including two foreigners have been killed and 10 others sustained injuries, the official said. However, the official didn't reveal the nationality of the foreign fighters.
Two security personnel have been injured, the official said.
Taliban militants who briefly captured Arghanchkhaw district over weekend and lost to the government forces on Monday are yet to make comment on the situation in the restive district.
